Major stakeholders of the EU Construction sector launch the “Construction 2050 Alliance”

Today, during the 8th meeting of the High Level tripartite Strategic forum, 47 European players of the construction supply chain unveiled a new platform for improved dialogue, coordinated messaging and quicker actions: The Construction 2050 Alliance.

Confronted with an ever more complex regulatory framework and pressing societal challenges, sectoral associations including PU Europe decided to gather under the same roof and to raise the voice of the construction ecosystem. This new Alliance will strive to engage with the EU decision-makers on the agenda setting while also sharing construction sector high level statements on the European Commission work programme. The work of the Alliance will align with Internal Market Commissioner Breton statement made during the latest Competitiveness Council on the Recovery Plan on 12th of June “We need to invest in making our industry ecosystems green, digital and resilient, and support this transition with the right policy framework”.

At a time when Europe and national governments are about to implement recovery initiatives that shall also encompass long term objectives from the European Green Deal, the contribution to the debate of construction product manufacturers is critical.

Commenting on the official launch of the Construction 2050 Alliance, PU Europe Secretary General Arnaud Duvielguerbigny said “the rigid polyurethane foam insulation sector is ready to contribute its fair share to the success of this new platform and will push for making sure the golden opportunity to trigger and spur Renovation Wave(s) at local level via the Recovery Plan(s) is not missed”.
