Coalition for Energy Savings and smartEn – Joint Statement on Energy Efficiency and Demand Side Flexibility

The Coalition for Energy Savings, which counts PU Europe among its members, and Smart Energy Europe (smartEn) have released a joint statement urging the EU to prioritize energy efficiency and demand side flexibility as key drivers of a cost-effective, clean energy transition.

The statement highlights how these measures can reduce grid congestion, limit curtailment of renewable energy, and avoid costly investments in peak generation and large-scale storage.

The Coalition and smartEn call on the new EU institutions to empower consumers and businesses to efficiently reduce energy use and optimize consumption, unlocking both economic and environmental benefits for Europe’s energy future.
