Decarbonisation of the built environment: PU Europe joins a coalition of over 60 construction sector leaders in an Open Letter

The letter is part of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) #BuildingLife project, which aims to develop, with the support of several industries, an EU Policy Whole Life Carbon Roadmap aligned with our decarbonisation objectives.

PU Europe Secretary General, Arnaud Duvielguerbigny, commenting on the release of the Open Letter said: The rigid PU insulation industry has a strong track record of making its products not only more resource efficient but also easier/quicker to fit during construction works. Through our participation to the #BuildingLife project we signal that the industry is committed to bring to the market net zero carbon products in the future. Devising actionable policies that address embodied carbon in buildings will not be an easy task, but this is the necessary next step after minimising operational energy use.”

The signatories to the Open Letter call on the European Commission to work with them to deliver policies that enable the built environment sector to tackle its total carbon and resource impact.
