The European Commission issued today the "Clean Energy for all Europeans" package that among other legislative proposals contains proposals for revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).
Following the release of the package, Managing Director Arnaud Duvielguerbigny, said: “While it is too early to assess the many measures proposed in this Clean Energy package, we certainly would have wished for a more targeted approach for addressing the leaky building sector. Nevertheless we welcome the European Commission effort in the area of financing, at the top of improving the consistency of the regulatory framework. In order to mainstream energy renovation of buildings, it is necessary to work on enhancing the housing market confidence and to bring forward new business models. But some are only some of our key asks on this legislative journey, which starts exactly one year after the launch of COP 21 in Paris."
By putting highly energy efficient building at the centre of our evolving energy system, decision makers will permit a more cost effective integration of decarbonised supplies via smart technologies.
