Together with other European industries providing solutions enabling the transition towards climate neutrality, PU Europe cosigned today an open letter to Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson.
While commending the European Union effort to fight the climate crisis, the signatories call for the introduction of mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) in the forthcoming revision of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD). MEPs would increase the annual renovation rate of buildings and thereby achieve massive energy savings in residential, public, commercial and industrial buildings. This would lead to the well-documented multiple local and global benefits of energy renovation, one of them being to reduce the influence of high energy prices.
